    What about plant proteins? Are plant proteins just as good as animal proteins for bone health? I personally enjoy plant proteins more than animal proteins, I don't like eating meat in fact I've been eating less meat I feel better physically with less meat but is that good for my bones? I love vegan protein powder I really don't like whey protein at all but I do use it once in awhile, I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I do eat more plant-based, are plant-based proteins as good for bone health as animal proteins?

      I prefer plants too - Peter Attia the well known longevity expert says animal protein is better yet I know lots of totally plant based men and women who are in great health, I think if you do it right plant based can be done, but it seems controversial.

    Dr Donald Layman recommends 1 gram per pound. He also talks a lot about type and timing. He will tell you about experiments he has done that lead him to his conclusions. I recommend readers check Dr. Layman recommendations out and decide if he makes a good case. Dr Peter Attia, Dr Andy Galpin, and even though he may be a bit of a jerk, Dr Layne Norton have good information.

    • @sheryl3268
      @sheryl3268 День назад

      Actually Don Layman says 1.2-1.6g per kg per day, and 3g leucine at breakfast (as part of total protein) in order to stimulate muscle protein synthesis (which is what he is focused on). He says can go more, but personally goes for 1.4-1.6 I believe. It is the others that go to 1g/lb... but none of them are talking bone specifically.

Since that point, I've had back and hip issues, including osteopenia/early onset osteoporosis as was recently revealed to me when I requested a scan. I wish anyone would have discussed how to proceed with building bones, but no doctor has had that conversation with me (and I've seen many). What type(s) of physicians might be aware of low intensity vibration therapy? Dear Margaret, I am considering purchasing the Marodyne device, but, considering it's expense, I wanted to make sure first that Debi was not adding any strontium to her supplements ( or taking a calcium supplement which includes strontium) My doctor says strontium can make the dexa readings higher but it doesn't mean that the bone itself has actually increased or become stronger....) Would you mind checking with her to ask her about this? (And also if she used the same dexa machine for both readings) IF she used the same machine, and did not take strontium, then her incredible improvement will certainly influence my decision. thanks so much.... Not quite. Dr. Guise states that they found the LiV helped make the medications more effective. Second, I am not against medications for osteoporosis and have never stated so. They can play an important role in bone formation, especially for individuals at high risk of fracture. For these people, exercise and nutrition cannot get them there fast enough. However, I do emphasize to my clients that the medication process needs to be managed well.

    I agree with several of the people that made comments in the regard that when you speak to the doctor, they definitely make you feel compelled to take the bisphosphanates . with a -4.2 in my spine the doctor saying it’s not a matter of if you will fracture but when you will fracture and your quality of life living in fear. They definitely feel the only way to go is by taking the drugs to keep your bone density where it is and not have it get worse. it’s a wretched decision to try to make when I am highly sensitive to any pharmaceuticals and even some herbals. The side effects are very scary. Many people post that they have no problems, and others of course seem to get them all. I did find it reassuring about being able to continue moving around and not to have to be afraid.important about good posture and how we move to do the daily task as Margaret pointed out. Think of all of us bending over to brush our teeth.

    I feel slightly confused about dosages and types. One brand in Canada talks about vitamin K 2( MK7.) from Natto bean. One capsule equal to 100 MCG’s. In my research, the optimum amount of vitamin K two was from 120 to 180mcg. The other brand comes in a gel capsule and it is 120 MCG from MK seven. The capsule would be a powder and in the gel I’m assuming some sort of liquid?
